Alternative ending - A Dolls House

( Dr. Rank turns uncomfortably in his bed.  The lamp dimmed to a low and the sound from outside starts to soothe him to sleep. *Bang *Bang. )
Dr. Rank : Who would knock on my door at this time at night. (Sarcastically) while I'm on the verge of dying too. (Opens door)
Nora : ( frantically ) Dr. Rank I know it's quite terrible of me to ask for a favor of you on such short notice but would you mind if I stay here for the night ?.
Dr. Rank : Yes, Nora you know you can always come to me for help.
Nora : Thank you , oh Dr. Rank where should I begin, I've left Torvald.
Dr. Rank : ( speechless ) What ?
Nora : I've left him and my dear children I couldn't live in that environment anymore.
Dr. Rank ( frantically ) But Nora no you can't you mustn't, think of your children.  To grow up without a mother what a dreadful thing. You have to go back how will you live ?
Nora : That's just it I can't go back I have to explore the world, see new things discover what I like, what I love. All my life I've never felt myself.  But now at this moment I've never felt more free. But yes my children will not have me around but I did not have my mother either but dear old nurse took good care of me as she will my children.
Dr. Rank : So what will you do know ?
Nora : ( taking his hand ) My first instinct was to go to Mrs. Lindens'so house of course, but then I thought of you. Knowing I will leave tomorrow I had to come talk to you and tell you... (nervously) if I hadn't met Torvald first, if It had been you I think I would've fallen in love with you from the minute I saw you.
Dr. Rank : ( hesitantly ) But Nora I'm dying I might not make it through the week why tell me now. Everything could have been different. What a blundered mistake if have made of my life.
Nora : What mistake would that be ?
Dr. Rank : When Torvald met you, you did not love him instantly I could've won your heart but I was a coward. To scared you might not love me the same.
Nora : ( turns around ) ( tumultously dropped the domino off the hanger ) oh Dr. Rank all that is behind us now and these nothing we can do...
Dr. Rank : Yes, nothing but Nora lets go to bed you need to rest.
( Nora and Dr. Rank go to sleep. Early in the morning Nora gets up and ready to leave. )
Nora : I wish I could stay to say goodbye ( she whispers to a sleeping Dr. Rank. ) but it would be too hard on me. Goodbye. ( opens the door an leaves )
( *Bang *Bang )
( *Bang *Bang )
Helmer : ( shouting ) Dr. Rank, Dr. Rank I need your help I don't know what to do. ( desperately crying ) she's left me, she's never coming back. ( opens the door with a spare key under the welcoming mat ) Dr. Rank ? ( walk to the bedroom )
Your still sleeping, it's almost noon come get up. Dr. Rank ! ( lightly shaking him ) No ! No ! It can't be not now not when I need you the most my dearest friend.

A Dolls House - Act II

Act II so far has been the center of the DRAMA...  Christina now knows about the money that was lent from krogstad.  But is that a good thing or a bad thing ?  I feel as if Christina has some secrets we don't really know much about her past, just that she went to school with nora and about her family issues.  Nora and Krogstad's conversation must have been excrutiating to Nora.  Any chance she had of Torvald not knowing about the secret was slipping away from her.
Maybe she'll change her mind and ask Dr.Rank for the money since he is dying after all.  But maybe not, because since he has confessed his love for her she's reprouched him for catching feelings that as she has said where obviously not reciprocated.  What if Torvald does find out eventually about the secret ?  Will it be as Nora thinks " How painful and humiliating it would be for Torvald ( Ibsen 197 ).  Or will it be even more intolerable because he thinks he has everything Nora does under the palm of his hands.  Like he said " Nice ? - - because you do as your husband wishes ? Well , well you little rouge, I am sure you did not mean it in that way (Ibsen).  As we were finishing act II Nora was counting down the hours to when she would kill herself.  I believe Nora just might do it because when she was having that talk with Dr.Rank he had said something that probably stuck into her head.  " Those who are gone are soon forgotten..." (Ibsen)

A Dolls House - Act 1

In the scene provided the women would be Nora, and the man Helmer because Helmer would be the only one to put his hands on his wife.  I think that Nora had her situation with the money in control, of course until now.  She's starting to get worried and paranoid because of Krogstads visit.  Helmer at this point in my opinion is just worrying about his job and his family, I don't think he has any clue in the world that Nora is hiding something from him.  But she is, and she's on the verge of chaos.  In Helmer's and Nora's talk he said " An atmosphere of lies that infects and poisons the whole life of a home.  In a house like that every breath that the children take is filled with the germs of evil "
That's text to world because most kids would feel betrayed when, or if their parents lie to them.  They think if my parents lie all the time why shouldn't I.  But when Helmer said " It's generally the fault of the mother, though of course a father can have the same effect - as every lawyer very well knows.  And certainly for years this fellow Krogstad has been going home and poisoning his own children with lies and deceit.  That's why I call him a moral outcast".  Now I believe Nora at this point is degenerating.  If Krogstad hadn't talked to Nora before Helmer's talk with her she might not be as vehementely as she is now with not wanting to see her children.  She's really oblivious to the fact that she could be poisoning her children.  Will Nora's secret ever be revealed ?

Henrik Ibsen

My names Aldana.  I like soccer.  My favorite moment so far in English is reading the Alchemist.  I found the book really interesting to read.  I think " A Dolls House " will be about a women's life and her just really remembering herself when she was little girl and having a dolls house, and remembering simpler times.  I don't necessarily think the whole play will be about a little girl with a dolls house.  It seems to obvious to me.
Henrik Ibsen was born on March 20, 1828, in Skien, Norway.  In 1862, he was exiled to Italy, and later in 1868 he moved to Germany.  Henrik was the oldest of five children.  His father was a merchant, and his mother a painter.  At fifteen Ibsen stopped school and started working.
He worked as an apprentice in an apothecary in Grimstad.  In his free time he wrote poetry and painted.  He wrote his first play " Catilina " In 1849.  He was married to Suzannah Daae Thoresan in 1858, and had one son Sigurd.  He also had a child from an earlier relationship in 1846, although he never met the boy.  He wrote " A Dolls House " In 1868.  In 1900 Ibsen had a series of strokes that left him unable to write.  Henrik Ibsen died on May 23, 1906.
